Innovative Technology for Dry Eye

At Dr. Zargar Eyecare, we are continually investing in innovative treatments to provide our patients with relief from dry eye.

Radiofrequency treatment is just one of the many new technologies we employ to help people with their symptoms. This treatment works on all skin types and shades, and almost everyone is a candidate.

If you suffer from any of the symptoms of dry eye, book an appointment today. We will help you to discover the underlying cause of your concerns and recommend appropriate treatments.

What Is Radiofrequency Treatment?

Radiofrequency (RF) has been used in aesthetic treatments for many years. It has also provided excellent results for dry eye patients.

Radiofrequency treatment applies heat to the eyelid area, warming the meibomian glands to liquefy any clogged oil inside them. After the treatment, your optometrist may manually express the meibomian glands, to release any additional oil trapped inside.

The oil layer of your tear film is essential for keeping moisture from evaporating too quickly. When your tears are not in contact with your ocular surface long enough, dry eye can result.

To see if Radiofrequency treatment might help your dry eye, book your appointment today.

Preparing for Your Treatment

During a thorough consultation with an optometrist, we will answer any questions you may have about radiofrequency treatment and provide you with some instructions about how to prepare.

How To Prepare

To prepare for your treatment, you should:

  • Avoid UV exposure for a few days prior to treatment
  • Come to the office without makeup and a recently washed face
  • Do not use exfoliants or peeling masks before your appointment
  • Avoid aspirin or ibuprofen for a week prior to your appointment

We find that most patients achieve results after the first treatment, but for best results, we recommend 3 to 4. The number of treatments you need will be determined by your unique situation. Your optometrist will discuss potential outcomes and expectations with you during your consultation.

Most patients can resume normal activity immediately following treatment. While there may be some redness post-treatment, it generally subsides quickly.

We will discuss any risks with you during your appointment.
