Dr. Young completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Physiology at the University of Toronto before earning her Doctor of Optometry degree through the prestigious Accelerated Scholars Program at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
Her path to optometry started early: as a child, her personal experience with orthokeratology (ortho-k) for myopia management sparked a lifelong passion for eye health. Today, Dr. Young brings that same personal commitment to her core clinical interests, which include myopia control, chronic dry eye management, specialty contact lens fittings, and ocular disease diagnosis.
Dr. Young is dedicated to giving back to the global community. During her studies, she served on the executive board for the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) organization, organizing vision care missions for underserved populations. She participated in a memorable mission trip to Jamaica, working alongside an interdisciplinary team of optometrists and ophthalmologists to provide free vision care, glasses, and medications.
Her comprehensive clinical background spans extensive training across North America:
- Specialty Contact Lenses & Corneal Disease: Advanced training in Miami, FL under a world-renowned optometric specialist.
- Pediatric Care & Vision Therapy: Specialized hands-on training in Philadelphia, PA and Sarasota, FL.
- Ocular Disease & Hospital Care: Primary management of complex ocular conditions, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration at a hospital facility serving the indigenous community in Phoenix, AZ.
To offer her patients the most up-to-date advancements in modern eye care, Dr. Young actively attends optometric conferences and maintains active memberships with the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO) and the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO).
When she isn’t caring for patients’ eyes, you can find her staying active outdoors – running, hiking, and rock climbing.
